ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUMS

Andros, apart from being the ‘’island of ship owners’’, is also an island of Art. Many amazing exhibits of great historical and cultural value of archaic periods but also by famous artists have taken place on the island’s museums.

You can visit the famous “Museum of Contemporary Art’’ of Vasilis and Eliza Goulandris in Andros Town that has hosted exhibits by great artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso, Panagiotis Tetsis etc.

Additionally, you can visit the Archaeological Museum in Andros Town with archaeological findings and replicas of ancient sculptures and also plates from the Byzantine period. Another option is the Archaeological Museum in Paleopoli with findings from Palaeopolis, which is believed to be the ancient capital of the island with 12 centuries of life.

Furthermore, you can visit the Maritime Museum of Andros with exhibits on the maritime life of the island, the Museum of Folk and Christian Art which contains, among others, paintings and sculpted temples from the monasteries of Andros.
